This is the process that we do
-
step by step to
-
get started with your roof project:
1. Owner & contractor agree on all items, price, color, style, payment
schedule start & finish dates.
2. Re-move and dispose of existing materials down to spaced sheathing.
3. Remove and replace rotted and broken sheathing as needed.
4. Acquire a hard copy of the permit from building department officials.
5. Install 7/16” O.S.B. exterior plywood to roof deck.
6. After the plywood is installed the building department is notified
for their first inspection. (They will sign off on the decking and nailing
pattern).
7. Asphalt saturated felt underlayment is applied either 15# or 30#
A.S.T.M. felt.
8. Drip metal edging is installed at all eaves and gable ends to protect
the sheathing as well as the facial boards. (This metal comes in white,
brown, or charcoal).
9. New galvanized pipe and vent flashing are installed.
10. Apply composition shingles according to manufacturers recommendations.
(additional nails are used in high wind areas).
11. Cap all hips and ridges.
12. Cement and paint all pipes and vents to match shingles.
13. Call the Local building department for a final inspection. (They
will inspect the nailing pattern, shingle exposure, proper ventilation
and the general integrity of the new roof. They will then sign off on the
permit).
